On January 17th, 2023, the first meeting of the Student Working Group hosted 20+ students from around the globe. Members discussed challenges and opportunities that students have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and future research projects. Students shared experiences, ideas, and resources with one another, including ways to collaborate and support one another. Overall, the initial meeting was an important step in building a community of students who are committed to exploring pre- and post- COVID-19 pandemic impact and implications.

Spring 2024 Analyzing Pandemic Responses Project

Working Group members are encouraged to participate in the Analyzing Pandemic Responses Project, currently being held between February 4th - April 5th, 2024. Data Visualization Project

In October 2023, the CIC Student Working group launched our first semester-long data science education project on COVID-19 Visualization. The 300+ members of the Working Group developed independent data visualizations using tools and skills learned as a community. We learned to develop a COVID-19 research question and explored time series analysis and geospatial mapping.

Below are some examples of the final projects students submitted to the CIC. Congratulations to all participants!

A asynchronous version of the Data Visualization project has been created for students who joined the Working Group after October 2023. To get started, please sign up here.
